| MoMT Records / Music Blog | | | Quartersized - Observe The Fall | | Economic collapse, societal breakdown, the war against terror, water scarcity, food riots, corporate domination, religious fundamentalism, corrupt politicians and police in the hands of a malignant press baron, chaotic weather systems, nuclear meltdowns, peak oil, ecological disasters. Welcome to the 21st century. Keep your head down, don’t ask questions, stay at home watch TV, everything will be just fine. Life is just a spectator sport and we all invited to witness the end. Observe The Fall is the first full length release from the UK electronic artist Quartersized following on from a series of 6 EPs that began in 2009. Observe The Fall consolidates the musical ideas from these into a more coherent sonic landscape that takes it influences from early industrial, dubstep, film scores and IDM to create a dark dystopian soundtrack for a world teetering on the bring of collapse. Get yourself comfortable and observe the fall. | | 2011-09-19 11:06:56 | | | Cauterised - Trifer Vs The 70s | | The Trifler is Cauterised the strange entity that deals in the world of soundtrack and "lost" music manipulation and mangling. For this release he fired up his sampling time machine and has plundered the 1970s for some of the finer cuts from the decade. But rather than producing an album of indulgent progressive rock, punk nihilism or disco fever, he's produced an album of shattered and sleaze ridden soundtrack pieces, covering the world of funk, jazz and exotica. All lovely splattered in noise, static and echo to produce a hauntological nightmare, where the parts of the decade we hope had been buried have risen like some hideous diseased chimera, ready to drag us back to the horror of nylon bedsheets and woodchip wallpaper. | | 2011-07-07 15:50:46 | | | Quartersized - CERN EP | | Quartersized presents his latest release CERN. Inspired by the research carried out by the European Organization for Nuclear Research at the hi-tech CERN research centre. CERN sees Quartersized split off into 2 new directions. The first 2 tracks Stepping Into CERN and Higgs Boson I Love You! are heavily influenced by the UK dubstep scene and are deliberate attempts to make nuclear research be an unlikey dance-floor hit. The other 2 tracks Dark Matter and The Machines are the first time Quartersized has purely used VST synths to create his music, no sampling just pure programming. These 2 tracks are atmospheric soundscape visions of the working of the masses of technology at CERN. | | 2011-03-15 10:34:34 | | | Cauterised - Trifler's Flashback | | The Trifler has started up the engine of his old but trusty sampling time machine to bring you the follow up to his previous EP; The Trifler Comes Clean.
Trifler's Flashback features 4 more tracks of haunting soundtrack manipulation. Featuring the creeping fear of A Killer for your Love via the orgasmic sleaze of Ze Germans and the broken beats of Mad Dog Jazz to the horror ambience of The Return of Satanus. This is one Flashback you'll want to return to.
